Sotik Constituency

Sotik Constituency is a political administrative division located in Bomet County, Kenya. It is one of the constituencies within the larger Rift Valley Province of the country. Sotik Constituency covers an area in the southwestern part of Kenya and is situated approximately 250 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the capital city.

The constituency is predominantly rural and encompasses several towns and settlements, including Sotik town,Chebole,Ndanai and small growing others which serves as the administrative centers. The area is known for its scenic landscapes, rolling hills, and fertile agricultural land, making it an important region for farming activities.

The population of Sotik Constituency is primarily composed of various ethnic groups, with the Kipsigis community being the most prominent. The constituency has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its traditional practices, music, and dances.

Economically, Sotik Constituency relies heavily on agriculture, with tea and coffee and avocado farming being the mainstay of the local economy. Small-scale subsistence farming is also prevalent, with crops such as maize, beans, and vegetables being cultivated. Livestock rearing, particularly dairy farming, is another important economic activity in the area.

In terms of infrastructure, Sotik Constituency has seen development in recent years, including the establishment of schools, healthcare facilities, and road networks to improve connectivity within the region. Additionally, efforts have been made to provide clean water and electricity to the residents.

Sotik Constituency is represented politically in the Kenyan Parliament, with a Member of Parliament (MP) elected to advocate for the interests of the constituency at the national level. The MP works in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders to address the needs and concerns of the residents, promote development, and improve the overall well-being of the constituents.
The sitting MP Hon. Francis Sigei is serving his first term.
